5 Projects Using... First Edition Floral Fusion!

Here are 5 projects using the First Edition 'Floral Fusion' papers from Trimcraft.  There are instructions on how to make them below each picture. Lots of scrapbook layouts in this post! I felt so inspired with this paper pad.

1. Print the photos and cut out, leaving a thing white border around each edge. Mount onto patterned paper.
2. On a 12x12" sheet of patterned paper, mark out lightly where you want the photos to sit using a pencil.
3. In the flowers/circles around where the photos will sit, stitch to each of the corners using thread. Add a brad in the centre of each flower.
4. Draw a line across the diagonal of the page, up to where the stitched flowers start. Cut in a straight line up to the flowers, then fussy cut around the flowers.
5. Back onto a contrasting piece of 12x12" paper. 
6. Add washi tape along the join and finish with a title.

1. Cut a 12x12" sheet of double sided patterned paper down to 10 inches square. Fold the corners to the centre, and then make another fold so the corners are facing outwards. 
2. Stick this to a 12x12" sheet of patterned paper.
3. Print your photo at 4x6" and mount. Add foam to the back.
4. Stick in the centre of the folded paper. 
5. Stick the folds of the folded paper down so they do not stick up.
6. Stick a title on a piece of co-ordinating patterned paper. Stick to the layout and use a chalk marker to colour the stickers.
7. Fussy cut a bird and stickdown.
8. Add a pennant in the top left and bottom right corners and finish with an adhesive gem.

1. Cut along the diagonal of a 6 inch square piece of patterned paper and stick in the top left corner of a 12x12" sheet. 
2. Cut 6x9" and 6x6" pieces of patterned paper, distress the edges and arrange on the layout with the 6" piece on top. Stick down lightly.
3. Stitch around these pieces, and the edge of the layout, with red thread. Fold the edges of these up a little to add some dimension.
4. Print your photo at 4x6" and mount onto patterned paper, distressing the edges. 
5. Die cut several pieces of bunting from patterned paper, distress the edges and arragne in two rows along the bottom of the layout, stick down and add twine to connect them.
6. Stick your photo down.
7. Die cut the title and stick down.
8. Finish with flowers, gems and ribbon.

1. Cut a 12x12" sheet of striped paper into strips. Save two of the widest strips and arrange some of the rest at an angle in the centre of a 12x12" sheet of patterned paper. Stick down.
2. Stick the widest strips along the top and bottom of the page. 
3. Print 2 photos at 2x3", cut apart and mount onto patterned paper, adding foam to the back to add dimension.
4. Fussy cut flowers and add to the layout, adding the photos on top.
5. Finish with a title and sequins.

1. To make the fan, die cut a circle and make a cut from the outside to the centre. Then, concertina fold. 
2. Create a tassel using embroidery floss. There are lots of tutorials on how to do this on Youtube. 
3. Stick the tassel to the back of the fan.
4. Die cut a circle for the fan to sit on and glue down, holding it in position until it sticks. Add a larger die cut circle to the back.
5. Cut 6 strips of patterned paper, 3x9cm each. Weave them together and then mount twice.
6. Cut a 14cm square from patterned paper and adhere to a 6x6" card. 
7. Stick the woven square to the right of the card, with the fan on top.
8. Finish with a sentiment.

Spring Has Sprung || Scrapbook Layout || Dovecraft Blooming Lovely

Hi all,

I have a layout to share today using a photo of the gorgeous flowers in the Museum Gardens in York. I took my boyfriend's new camera and it takes brilliant shots and I love it. I only use my own camera now for project photography. 

I used the Dovecraft 'Blooming Lovely' collection to make this layout and here is a step by step guide:

1. Stick an 8x8” sheet of patterned paper in the centre of a 12x12” sheet of patterned paper.
2. Cut a 7” square of vellum and stick in the centre of the 8x8” sheet.
3. Print a photograph and mount twice.
4. Cut a wooden frame in half. Stick one half behind the top right of the photograph and stick the other half on the left side of the 8x8” sheet.
5. Cut  a coloured doily in half. Stick one behind the top right of the photograph and one behind the bottom left.
6. Cut a length of washi tape just wider than the 8x8” sheet and stick towards the bottom of the 8x8” sheet.
7. Cut adhesive banners in half and stick on the left and right of the tape.
8. Add a length of ribbon above the left side of the tape.
9. Stick down your mounted photograph on the right side of the layout.
10. Stamp ‘Spring Has Sprung’ onto white cardstock, cut out and stick behind a wooden frame. Fill in the gaps with patterned paper and washi tape. Stick on the bottom left of the photograph.
11. Add a line of buttons along the still visible parts of the washi tape.  
12. Add floral stickers, die cut butterflies and flowers to finish off the layout.

York Mixed Media Layout

Hi all,

A new layout to share today using a picture I took of the River Ouse in York.

I don't normally like/use papers with a big, fussy background but with this I managed to get it to sit in the background rather than being the main focus of the picture. (If you want to find out more about the mixed media techniques I used for this layout then I've explained it a bit more in this post).

The paper is by Heidi Swapp 'September Skies' and the other papers and embellishments are My Mind's Eye 'Market Street'.

You Are My Universe Scrapbook Layout

Hi all,

I have a new layout to share today combining old stash with new. It all started when I was going through my little boxes of ephemera (I used to be obsessed with buying packs of die cuts...) and I just sorted through it and told myself I would use it up. One of the sets was an astronomy themed pack (I can't remember what brand or what collection) which I loved but never really used as I never had the right picture to scrap with.... 

Until my birthday when I took this picture of Nathan in the museum gardens in York... a human sundial! Basically there's a slab in the centre with different months on, you stand on what month it is and then your shadow tells you what time it is. I was fascinated....

I started of by using the packaging technique onto some paper by Papermania (Mr Smith's Workshop). It's got a nice warm silvery wood effect and I thought it was pretty. 

The papers I used behind the photo are from the We R Memory Keepers 'Urban Chic' 6x6" pad and they went great with the ephemera I was using. 

Layouts like these are super easy to make (hence why I used to buy loads and loads of ephemera packs!) and it's fun to arrange the elements how you like it.

York Layout 'Back To Basics'

Hi all,

Here's a layout I made using pictures I took in York on Valentine's Day... February seems so long ago now. When we went it was a cold day but the flowers were just starting to bloom, crocuses, daffodils, snowdrops and tulips. Beautiful.

I struggled with this layout. I spent an afternoon making a background and I hated it. I wanted to use purple paper but though I've boxes of paper, I didn't have ANY purple. I don't know why. 

So I put the layout aside.

Then I went to The Range and found this... Back To Basics by Trimcraft

They had other colours too and I wish I had got the teal one too but here we are...

I like it because there's a bit of everything in this kit. I don't like buying full packs of the same thing as I never use it all but with this it's just enough to keep the stash topped up. 

I challenged myself to try and use only what came in the pack on my layout, so all I really added was some yellow paper to contrast the purple, plus a button, brads, tag, tape and a 3x4 card.
