Wonder Years || Scrapbook Layout

Hi all,

I have a mixed media layout to share today.

It started out very differently with lots of big areas of yellow, red and blue on a white background. It was a mess.... so I had to come up with a Plan B! Instead I painted the colours onto watercolour paper and punched out circles. In the end I even punched some circles from the original background.
I drew around the circles and added more paint behind them, allowing it to run down the page.
The circles are stuck on with 3D foam and I added coloured thread around them too.

The picture was taken in Liverpool, there was a street where there was lots of umbrellas hanging between the rooftops.

The title is from 'Wonder Years' by The Summer Set. Here's a video is you fancy a listen...

Anyway, the coloured thickers are by Docrafts (I know, right?!), and the stickers are (I think) Amy Tan? The chipboard piece is from My Mind's Eye 'Jubilee'.

Totally Tropical Cards!

Hi all,

Just stopping by to share some bright, tropical themed cards I made recently.

The first I think is my favourite card I've ever made. Just something simple using embossing, die cutting and using washi tape with the aperture of the feather... lovely!

The second one started with a strip of scrapbook paper I had left over. I cut it at an angle and folded it to create the concertina effect and you can see the other side of the paper showing through - red and white stripe.
I finished it off with some pink embellishments.

And finally, a card made using the flamingo die free with Papercraft Essentials this month, plus papers downloaded from the Papercraft Magazines website. I printed off the paper and covered with vellum.

Daisy Cards!

Hi all,

I've made a couple of cards using the gorgeous daisy stamp that came free with the April issue of Craft Stamper.

The first one I took inspiration from the ideas for the stamp in the magazine.

The next one I thought was dire but my friend said it was lovely, so it was saved from the trash... maybe if I hadn't used the wood effect stamp...  It looks a lot better than it did and now I understand the technique of layering stamps I'm definitely going to have another go!

Washi Tape Love Blog Hop

Hi all

We're having a blog hop today and our theme this month is Washi Tape Love.

(We are a team of current and ex members of the Docrafts PDT, we have a name for ourselves but it's a bit silly and we haven't thought of a proper one yet!) Anyway....

Here's what I made;

A CAS card:

And a coaster made from lolly sticks covered with tape. The tape didn't want to stick. The coaster didn't photograph well. Still, it alright for using outside in summer!

Check out what everyone else came up with:

Christmas Mixed Media

Hi all

I wanted to make a mixed media piece that can be displayed at Christmas. I printed small pictures I took of our tree last year and framed them (using the new wooden frames from docrafts, painted gold) to look like hanging decorations.

The background is from a roll of BoBunny paper painted with distress paint and then spattered with ink and watered down acrylic paint.

Until next time....

A Gorjuss Layout

Hi all

Sorry it's been a while, I have been crafting but with the new collections from docrafts and I'm waiting to hear what I'm to do with those projects I have made. Hopefully it won't be too soon before I can share them.

In the meantime I realised that I never got around to making anything with the Santoro's Gorjuss collection that came out in September. I got so wrapped up in Christmassy things (if you'll pardon the pun) that I forgot all about it!

So I made this layout. If I'm honest I've never been too fussed about crafting with the Gorjuss characters, but the matching papers and embellishments are fab! I tried to use a little bit of everything I have from that range in this layout and tried to layer them up in the centre. I could have maybe done something at the top edge... but I've a limited attention span and an addiction to watching Time Team, so...

Here's a close up of the stitching where the two papers join. I wanted to do something with the join because sometimes they look a bit odd. I marked the paper at 2cm intervals 2.5cm either side of the join and stitched with silver thread.

Thanks for stopping by...
I'm off to Hobbycraft now, my dad kindly offered to take me there seeing as we're going to Meadowhall anyway, and who am I to say no? :D

Mini Thank You Cards

Hi all

This week I have been making some smaller cards. They are 10cmx10cm and great for a smaller greeting such as thank you. You could also use them as larger gift tags. They're super simple and quick to make.

The idea came from this card I made for some relatives.

So I thought I'd make a few and then they're ready to go, and I finally got around to making them.
I just used coloured card, embossing folders and some older docrafts collections.

As you may know, I am on the Project Design Team for Docrafts. Every couple of months, new products come out and we get sent a selection to make some projects for their website with. This time there are new Xcut dies, Creativity Essentials stamps, Bare Basics embellishments and boxes, and Papier Patch decoupage papers.
