Happiness || Scrapbook Layout || Cocoa Vanilla Studio 'Wild At Heart'

Hi all,

I have a layout to share today using the Wild At Heart collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio, as well at the Gypsy Gypsy paper pad by Craft Consortium.

I chose to use a generic selfie of Nathan and I. I noticed there is a little green in the photo which perfectly matched this butterfly print paper.

I wanted to find a new way of using chipboard frames so I cut squares of watercolour print paper and squares of rub ons and then stuck the frames on top.
Of course I had to use gesso and the packaging technique on the background too.

Thanks for stopping by!

5 Projects Using... Simply Creative Enchantment

Here are 5 projects using the Simply Creative 'Enchantment' papers from Trimcraft. There are instructions on how to make them below each picture.

This card is perfect for a little girl! The bows around the wand untie so the wand can be removed and played with. (I wish I knew a little girl to send this to!)

  1. Cut 2 stars from acetate. Stick together with 3D foam tape around most of the edge.
  2. Through the gap, add sequins. Seal the gap.
  3. Cut a star the same size from patterned paper and cut an aperture in the middle. Stick on top of the shaker element.
  4. Stick to a paper straw. Cut the straw down so the wand will fit on a tall card blank.
  5. Take a tall card blank and cover with patterned paper.
  6. Place the wand onto the card. At the top and bottom of the straw, cut a slit either side using a craft knife.
  7. Thread ribbon through the slits and around the wand and tie in a bow.
  8. Embellish the rest of the card.

  1. Stamp designs in black ink onto adhesive cork and cut out.
  2. Die cut small doilies and stick the cork onto them.
  3. Cut a strip from 6x6" patterned paper and mount onto another piece and trim, leaving a thin border.
  4. Stick to a 6x6" piece of paper and then onto a card blank.
  5. Cut a doily in half and stick on either side of the strip.
  6. Stick the cork pieces in a diagonal.
  7. Finish with adhesive gems.

  1. Fussy cut houses from patterned paper. Draw around them onto foam and cut out, drawing on the windows.
  2. Add a small piece of tape to each foam piece and attach to a stamping block.
  3. Stamp patterns along a 12x12" page using the foam shapes in black ink.
  4. Fussy cut strips of house and stick below and to one side of the stamped rows using 3D foam.
  5. Print your photo at 3x4" and mount. Add twine behind.
  6. Cut up some film strips and stick behind the layered photo.
  7. Add two pieces of pennant to the top right of the page.
  8. Add a title on the bottom right of the page.

  1. Die cut 6 doughnuts.
  2. Use a ruler to rip strips of patterned paper. Stick two strips to a 12x12" page.
  3. Stick the 6 doughnuts down the page, and add lengths of washi tape and ribbon.
  4. Print your photo at 3x4" and mount with patterned paper and a doily. Stick down.
  5. Die cut your title and stick down.
  6. Finish with an emoji stamp and sequins.

  1. Use a doily die with unicorn print paper. Die cut a larger doily and stick the smaller one on top.
  2. Stick both onto the top left of a large doily. Add a sentiment too.
  3. Stick a die cut tag behind this and add a piece of ribbon through it.
  4. Stick to a 14cm square of patterned paper and then stick to a 6x6" card blank.
  5. Finish with an accordion flower.

Smile || Scrapbook Layout

Hi all,

I have a layout to share today that's very pink and yellow... a colour combination that seemed odd to start with but I think I made it work!

I used a selfie I took with my dad on a little breakfast date we had.

On this layout I used a combination of different products rather than lots from the same collection like I normally do.

Projects Using... First Edition Grand Plans!

Hi all,

Here are 5 projects using the First Edition 'Grand Plans' papers from Trimcraft. There are instructions on how to make them below each picture.

On this first layout, the picture is of Nathan and I with our lovely friend Sam who paid us a visit. Sadly I was feeling bad that day, I had heatstroke! Doh! You can see I look a bit peaky. Didn't help that they had dragged me into the local gaming store...

  1. Print your photo and mount several times onto patterned paper. Add some 3D foam to the back.
  2. Fussy cut paper planes and arrange around the photo on a 12x12" sheet of kraft cardstock.
  3. When you are happy with the arrangement, draw trails from each plane. Make sure you can see the lines.
  4. Stitch through the lines.
  5. Stick the planes down, along with your photo and other embellishments.

  1. Print your photo at 3x4" and stick to a piece of blue cardstock.
  2. Die cut a large tag and stick the photo to it, adding a piece of washi tape above it. Add a small piece of twine through the hole in the tag.
  3. Cut four 3" squares of patterned paper, distress the edges and add a doodled border to each one. Arrange on an 8x8" page and stick down.
  4. Add a title.
  5. Add the large tag to the page and finish with a die cut shape.

  1. Cut a 14x7cm piece of patterned paper and a 13x7cm piece. Arrange onto a 6x6" card blank.
  2. Cut a strip of blue cardstock and place between the two pieces of paper. Stick everything down.
  3. Fussy cut three bottles and stick on the bottom right of the card.
  4. Die cut a sentiment from blue cardstock and stick to a die cut doily. Stick to the card.

  1. Cut two diagonal pieces from patterned paper by measuring 5cm up one side of a 12x12 piece and 10cm up the other and then join the points together.
  2. Cut two strips from blue cardstock and stick under the diagonal pieces.
  3. Stick both pieces to a 12x12" sheet of patterned paper.
  4. Print your photo at 3x4" and layer. Stick on the page at the same angle as the diagonals.
  5. Add the title at the same angle.
  6. Journal onto a tag and fold a piece of blue cardstock around it to create a little pocket.
  7. Add a piece of ribbon to the tag.
  8. Cover the front of the pocket with patterned paper and stick down.
  9. Finish with a doily.

23 || Scrapbook Layout || Maggie Holmes 'Carousel'

Hi all..

May I present my favourite scrapbook layout EVER?!

We took these cute selfies in York on my birthday... I chose my three favourites for this page. I used the same filter on all of them so they all had this lovely golden hue.

I used the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes 'Carousel' collection for this page.... I loved layering the ephemera together. The backing paper is from the Maggie Holmes 'Shine' paper pad.
There's a little bit of mixed media on the background and I made this using gesso and the packaging technique with watercolours.

Hands up if you can spy the little Pusheen!

Projects Using... Simply Creative Chalk To Me

Here are 5 projects using the Simply Creative 'Chalk To Me' papers from Trimcraft.  There are instructions on how to make them below each picture.

  2. Cut a floral border and stick across the join.
  3. Cut two rows of garland print paper and stick across the top of the layout. Use 3D Pearl Effects on some of the dots to make them look like lights.
  4. Print your photo and mount, add 3D foam to the back and stick down.
  5. Fussy cut different elements from the paper pad and stick to the left of the photo.
  6. Add sequins and adhesive gems.

  1. On a 12x12" sheet of black cardstock, paint white gesso in the centre to the right, and two more areas just above and below.
  2. Use coloured chalk with a stencil over the gessoed areas.
  3. Using the same chalk, draw a border around the edge of the page.
  4. Spray the page lightly with hairspray to set the chalk.
  5. Print your photo at 4x4" and mount onto patterned paper and add foam to the back.
  6. Fussy cut bunting from patterned paper and stick to the page, adding your photo on top.
  7. Add die cut stars and a title.

  1. Stamp a large sentiment onto white cardstock. Once the ink is dry, die cut around the sentiment with a large circle die.
  2. Arrange paper flowers around the circle and stick down. Add an adhesive pearl to the centre of each flower.
  3. Layer coloured cardstock and patterned papers onto a 6x6" card blank.
  4. Add the topper to the card.

  3. Add a length of washi tape along the bottom of an 8x8" page.
  4. Arrange the pieces on the page and stick down.
  5. Finish off with stickers and a date stamp.

Go See Do || Scrapbook Layout

Hi all,

I have a layout to share today that involves the Mini...  but not mine, for once!
Back in June I went to a classic car show with my parents. It was the hottest day of the year, 35 degrees in the shade so sadly I didn't take many pictures as I felt like passing out most of the day! Of course I had to take pictures of the Minis though...

I mostly used the Shimelle 'Starshine' collection here. The backing paper is one I've been hoarding for a few years, it's by Sei. I got it in a surprise bargain box and it's got a gorgeous green foil on it.

5 Projects Using... Dovecraft Baby Steps!

Here are 5 projects using the Dovecraft 'Baby Steps' collection from Trimcraft. Yes, it is a baby themed collection but I don't have, or know, any babies, so I had to think outside the box with these proejcts. There are instructions on how to make them below each picture.

  1. Paint an area of gesso on the left towards the bottom of the page. Paint a smaller area to the far right of the page and allow to dry.
  2. Use the packaging technique to smoosh yellow watercolour across the gesso.
  3. Once dry, stamp polka dots in black across the gessoed areas. Take a repeat pattern die cut and use it as a stencil to add pattern to the background with a black fine liner.
  4. Print your photo in black & white. Cut several rectangles to mount it on and distress all the edges and add black ink. Arrange and layer up.
  5. Cut up frames and doilies and arrange behind the picture and to the right of the page.
  6. Continue adding embellishments until you are happy with the layout, and then stick everything down.

  1. Cut a little from the edges of a 12x12" sheet of white cardstock and stick onto a 12x12" sheet of patterned paper.
  2. Fold two corners of the white cardstock in on themselves. Stick a yellow doily under the corners you have folded.
  3. Using a ruler and piercer, pierce around the edges of the white cardstock.
  4. Stitch through the holes with yellow and gray twine.
  5. Cut rectangles of different sizes from patterned paper. Distress the edges and arrange them in the centre of the layout.
  6. Stick some of the strips down. Add 3D foam to the back of the rest before sticking those down too.
  7. Add strips of ribbon to the layout.
  8. Print your photo and mount several times onto patterned paper. Stick to the layout.
  9. Die cut small circles and add your title to them.
  10. Finish with flowers, journalling and photo corners.

  1. Paint gesso down one half of an A4 piece of quality white cardstock.
  2. Once dry, use the packaging technique to smoosh watercolour paint on top of the gesso.
  3. Choose five wooden frames and back each one with patterned paper.
  4. Stick the frames down the side of the layout, hanging off the edge. Once stuck down, cut off the edges.
  5. Print your photo at 2x3" and mount onto patterned paper. Add foam to the back.
  6. Stick the photo down and add some of the frame off-cuts behind it.
  7. Add a title.
  8. Finish with paper flowers, bows, buttons and ribbon.

  1. Cut an 8" square from patterned paper, and a 2x8" piece too. Stick to an A4 sheet of white cardstock, overlapping them slightly.
  2. Print your photo at 3x4" and layer.
  3. Stick a yellow doily to the back of this, as well as a tag or two. Stick to the layout.
  4. Add a title and stick co-ordinating stickers around the page.
  5. Add another tag and some lengths of ribbon in the top right of the page, trimming off any excess.

  1. Cut a 4 inch wide strip from a 12x12" sheet of patterned paper and stick along the bottom of another full sheet.
  2. Add a length of ribbon to the join.
  3. Cut a doily in half, sticking one bit above the join and the other in the bottom right corner of the page.
  4. Cut a rectangle from patterned paper wide enough to fit three wooden frames across it. Layer up with more patterned papers and coloured cardstock.
  5. Stick patterned papers behind two wooden frames, trimming off any excess. Add a small photograph behind a third frame and stick onto the layered papers. Add a tag behind the layers and then stick to the page.
  6. Arrange tags and paper flowers around the page and stick down, adding an adhesive pearl to the centre of each flower.
  7. Add buttons, bunting and bows to embellish.

Wonder Years || Scrapbook Layout

Hi all,

I have a mixed media layout to share today.

It started out very differently with lots of big areas of yellow, red and blue on a white background. It was a mess.... so I had to come up with a Plan B! Instead I painted the colours onto watercolour paper and punched out circles. In the end I even punched some circles from the original background.
I drew around the circles and added more paint behind them, allowing it to run down the page.
The circles are stuck on with 3D foam and I added coloured thread around them too.

The picture was taken in Liverpool, there was a street where there was lots of umbrellas hanging between the rooftops.

The title is from 'Wonder Years' by The Summer Set. Here's a video is you fancy a listen...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPsw2JUk1bA

Anyway, the coloured thickers are by Docrafts (I know, right?!), and the stickers are (I think) Amy Tan? The chipboard piece is from My Mind's Eye 'Jubilee'.

Hi all,

I have a layout to share today that I'm super excited about....
I finally got to scrap a pool photo!

One of my favourite scrappers is Missy Whidden and she uses a lot of pool photos. I don't have any. Until my lovely cousin came round and said her phone is waterproof. On came Snapchat... and we were away!

I mostly used the Crate Paper 'Oasis' collection for this layout, plus a little mixed media.

Jellyfish || Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout

Hi all,

I have a layout to share today using mixed media. It looks complicated but is actually really simple, just a layer of gesso and then doodling on top. Back when I used to draw a lot, I found drawing lots of tiny circles really therapeutic...

The picture was taken at The Deep in Hull. The backing papers are First Edition 'Kaleidoscope' and the stamp is by Visible Image. I picked up the sequins for £1 in The Range.

5 Projects Using... Simply Creative Fiesta Fun

Here are 5 projects using the Simply Creative 'Fiesta Fun' papers from Trimcraft.  I love these papers as there are lots of little bits to cut out. There are instructions on how to make them below each picture.

  1. Cut two 12x12" sheets of patterned paper in half on the diagonal.
  2. Stick the two alternating halves onto another 12x12" sheet of patterned paper, so the corners meet in the middle. Trim off the excess.
  3. Add washi tape along the sides of one and down one vertical side of the other.
  4. Print two photos at 2x3" and mount on to patterned paper. Stick down.
  5. Fussy cut bunting and stick across the top of the page.
  6. Add embellishments and a title.

  1. Measure the cover of your notebook and cut a piece of patterned paper to fit the front and back, and stick both down. Add a border to the left side of the front cover.
  2. Stamp a 'day of the dead' skull onto white cardstock and colour with markers. Cut out and stick on a die cut circle. Stick this onto a small doily.
  3. Arrange alphas onto coloured cardstock, cut out and mount.
  4. Stick diagonally across the cover.

  1. Download the 'Free Toucan Template' from The Craft Blog. Link > https://www.thecraftblog.com/freebies/downloads
  2. Trace the template onto coloured cardstock, cut out, piece and glue together.
  3. Using a compass or large circular object, cut a 10" ring from coloured cardstock.
  4. Lay the ring onto patterned paper and lightly mark where it will sit. Remove the ring and paint gesso around that area.
  5. Once dry, use the packaging technique to smoosh watercolours over the gessoed areas.
  6. Stick the ring onto the page.
  7. Add the toucan, as well as flowers and leaves to the ring. The flowers are die cut, the leaves are from the template.
  8. Use 3D Pearl Effects to add detail to the ring and flowers.
  9. Add a photo in the centre and finish with a title.

  1. Find a template for a pineapple, print and trace onto coloured cardstock. Cut out.
  2. On the main body of the pineapple, draw lines and stitch along them with yellow thread.
  3. Cover a 6x6" card blank with green cardstock. Layer 2 more patterned papers onto this base and add some twine, tying in a bow.
  4. Arrange the pineapple and stick down.
  5. Die cut a flamingo and add to the card, finishing with a sentiment.

For this card, I used free printables available to download on the Trimcraft website.

  1. Print and cut out the elements you want from the printables. Cut the inside from the film strip.
  2. Stick patterned paper in the apertures.
  3. Add 3D Pearl Effects to the pineapple leaves, and coloured dots all around the pineapple.
  4. Die cut a sentiment from coloured cardstock and stick to a large pennant.
  5. Take a 13cm square of coloured cardstock and emboss.
  6. Arrange the elements and stick down, using 3D foam to add dimension.

  3. Print your photo at 4x6" and mount. Add foam to the back.
  4. Stick in the centre of the folded paper.

  3. Stitch around these pieces, and the edge of the layout, with red thread. Fold the edges of these up a little to add some dimension.
  4. Print your photo at 4x6" and mount onto patterned paper, distressing the edges.
  5. Die cut several pieces of bunting from patterned paper, distress the edges and arragne in two rows along the bottom of the layout, stick down and add twine to connect them.
  6. Stick your photo down.
  7. Die cut the title and stick down.
  8. Finish with flowers, gems and ribbon.

  3. Print 2 photos at 2x3", cut apart and mount onto patterned paper, adding foam to the back to add dimension.
  4. Fussy cut flowers and add to the layout, adding the photos on top.
  5. Finish with a title and sequins.

  1. To make the fan, die cut a circle and make a cut from the outside to the centre. Then, concertina fold.
  2. Create a tassel using embroidery floss. There are lots of tutorials on how to do this on Youtube.
  3. Stick the tassel to the back of the fan.
  4. Die cut a circle for the fan to sit on and glue down, holding it in position until it sticks. Add a larger die cut circle to the back.
  5. Cut 6 strips of patterned paper, 3x9cm each. Weave them together and then mount twice.
  6. Cut a 14cm square from patterned paper and adhere to a 6x6" card.
  7. Stick the woven square to the right of the card, with the fan on top.
  8. Finish with a sentiment.

Kiss & Makeup Birthday Card!

Hi all,

Just a quick post from me today to share a card I made using the Dovecraft 'Kiss & Makeup' collection from Trimcraft.

Instructions are below the picture, it might look complicated but it was quite easy to make.

  1. Die cut several hearts from patterned paper, in two different sizes. I did 10 of each. Stick the small on top of the large.
  2. Cut a 14cm square from patterned paper and turn over. Draw across the diagonals to find the middle and pierce.
  3. Cut a circle from scrap paper and pierce the centre of that too, line the holes up and adhere with tack. This will help you get the hearts in a perfect circle.
  4. Arrange the hearts in a circle and stick down with glue.
  5. When the glue is dry(!) go around the circle a few times using a sewing machine.
  6. Mount the square onto coloured cardstock, and then to a square card blank.
