Thursday 29 January 2015

Hi everyone,
Been getting back into scrapping this week. I haven't been anywhere really to take pictures this month, but I printed off the few I did take and die cut them into hexagon shapes. I'm starting a new scrapbook and I thought this made a great page to start off the year.

Backing paper - DCWV Gilded Paper (this has been so useful to me, so glad I won it!)
Metallic blue spray ink
Xcut hexagon dies
Papermania coloured paper and buttons
Various patterned papers (some are Studio Calico Darling Dear)
The Works accordion flower and wooden embellishment
Hot Off The Press feather die (I bought Simply Cards & Papercraft just to get this die! Haha)

I took this to show some new goodies I've bought. The scrapbook was from my grandparents for Christmas but though I chose it myself, it's turned out to be too small width-wise, so it's going to be a sketchbook instead.
I also went to The Works last weekend they have Papermania paper packs really cheap so I topped up my stash. I've also ordered bits off ebay.

In other news, I went to London yesterday with Nathan. I bought a new scrapbook from the Paperchase in Covent Garden. It's PERFECT! Here it is along with a couple books I bought.

Something a little different..!

A few months ago I was inspired to have a go at some embroidery. I took one of my drawings, of a pair of Mandarinfish, and transferred it onto some fabric and stitched it. I coloured the background with a soft pastel.
It's something I've had on the go to do in between other projects, but yesterday I finally finished it. It's not bad to say I've not done anything like this before.
(I do want to make the border a bit more interesting, though)

A Valentine's card!

A Valentine's card for my boyfriend. I wasn't going to bother, but that kitten decoupage that came with docrafts mag this month will melt him...!

For now I'm going to do more card making. There's family birthdays coming up, plus Mother's day, so I want to get some together while I've not got much scrapbooking to do.
But Nathan and I have submitted all our university work for the moment (y'know, until we go back next week) so we might go out and do something today that I can scrapbook.

Also, I started driving lessons yesterday. I was really nervous, but then a bright red Mini turned up outside and I've never shot out of the door so fast in my LIFE.

Top Hat Pin Cushion!

I'm having a pretty bad day today (nothing to do, ASOS being absolute rubbish, fed up of waiting til 4pm+ for the postman and him not bring me anything I was expecting). I wanted to do something crafty but I've no pictures to scrapbook.
So I browsed on docrafts.com and came across this cute pin cushion and made it for my mum.
Tutorial found HERE

Note to self - Invest in better adhesive. Supermarker glue stick is useless, and double sided tape cannot be used for everything...!

Happy New Year!

I made a final page for my scrapbook with the theme of 'A Year Of Selfies'. Or in this case, the 9 months where Nathan and I went on an adventure. Each photo was taken in a different place!
- Teresa Collins Daily Stories papers and chipboard embellishments
Studio Calico wood veneers
DCWV papers and topper
My Mind's Eye toppers
Papermania pastel twine and brads.

I thought this page is the perfect ending to my current scrapbook. I started it from the beginning of 2014, so it's only right to finish it right at the end and start a new one for 2015!

I'm amazed and thankful that we were able to visit so many lovely places last year and hopefully 2015 will be just as filled with trips out as 2014 has. We're already booked to go to London for my 21st birthday in August, and we're in the process of arranging to go to Manchester Comic Con in July. Also in July, Nathan and I will have been together for FIVE years. (That's a quarter of our lives. Already!)

I saw in the New Year with Nathan, his parents and their friends and it was a lot of fun. Then Nathan and I spent all of yesterday making our eyes square in front of the telly. Day well spent? Think so.

Best wishes for 2015!

Get Well Soon card

My grandma's not very well. Not seen my grandparents at all over Christmas because Grandad was ill first and now Grandma's caught it from looking after him.
So I made her a card to wish her 'get well'

I used the free 'Simply Floral' papers and ribbon that came with January's 'Creativity!' Magazine (and the butterfly die that came with it a few months ago).  I layered the butterfly with vellum to give it a 3D effect and finished it off with adhesive gems.
